History
Line: Vila Inhomirim
The region of Imbariê, located between the sea and the mountains, and cut through by several rivers, had many swampy areas of muddy waters that hindered human occupation. The first inhabitants of these lands were the Tupi Indians who named the place “Imbariê”, which means “dirty water”.
The station, which has born the same name as the neighborhood since 1943, is located in the old lands of Vila da Estrela, where the gold hailing from Minas Gerais would pass through on its way to its final destination in Europe.
