  • GUMI - Guarana Urban Mobility Incorporated takes control of SuperVia;

  • SuperVia wins the first international title (Fundacom Awards) with the hotsite Tô de Love no Trem.

2018
  • Ticket payment with Mastercard card available at the turnstiles of the Central do Brasil, São Cristóvão, Maracanã, Engenho de Dentro, Madureira and Deodoro stations.

2017
  • SuperVia stations on Google Street View;

  • SuperVia App redesign;

  • Stations closing times updated;

  • Saracuruna´s branch operating grid on Saturdays updated;

  • Support for the “Trem do Choro” event;

  • Fleet totals 189 trains with air conditioning;

  • Roof installation at Belford Roxo station;

  • Improvement works carried out at Santíssimo station;

  • Restoration of the Museu do Trem.

2016
  • Inauguration of Ricardo de Albuquerque station for the Olympics;

  • Inauguration of Magalhães Bastos station for the Olympics;

  • Inauguration of Engenho de Dentro station for the Olympics;

  • Inauguration of Vila Militar station for the Olympics;

  • Inauguration of Deodoro station for the Olympics;

  • Total of 184 trains with air conditioning in the fleet;

2015
  • Changes to the Saracuruna Branch:
    Central – Gramacho with trains every 10 minutes;
    Gramacho – Saracuruna with trains every 20 minutes and all cars have air conditioning;

  • Start of operation on the Honório – Deodoro circle line on the Belford Roxo branch;

  • Record number of passengers 729,000;

  • SuperVia makes 100% of the fleet from electric branches available, with air conditioning, on weekends;

  • 71 of the 100 Chinese trains acquired are already in use;

  • Total of 163 trains with air conditioning in the fleet.

2014
  • Launch of the first national train;

  • Launch of the official SuperVia App;

  • Start of the reform Works at the São Cristóvão station;

  • Alemão cable car reaches the milestone of 9 million passengers transported;

  • Ten new Alstrom trains start operating and other sixty new trains ordered by State Government;

  • Deodoro branch starts the 6-minute-interval operation begins;

  • Lines see express trains starting to run in the Japeri and Santa Cruz branch lines;

  • Record number of passengers: 654,267, with 618,948 paying passengers;

  • Launch of the "Whoever rides the train sees the change" Campaign;

  • A further eight trains with USB outlets to charge phones are delivered.

2013
  • Reform of Piedade, Quintino and Cascadura stations;

  • Relaunch of Parada Bananal, Iriri e Parque Estrela stations;

  • "Me Leva Que Eu Vou” (Take Me and I’ll Go) campaign takes hundreds of passengers to Marquês de Sapucaí Sambadrome and transports a number of samba schools to the parade;

  • Launch of the Saracuruna Bicycle Park;

  • Start of the modernization for station PA systems in stations;

  • Launch of the virtual Tour page of the COO (Operations Control Center) on the site;

  • Launch of the “Passageiro Sangue Bom” (Considerate Passenger) campaign with funk music from MC Marcinho;

  • 24-hour operation with special trains during the week of the World Youth Day. Milestone of 9 million passengers transported;

  • Special train schedules during the Confederations Cup;

  • Passenger service helpline gets automatic message system

  • Alemão cable car reaches the milestone of six million passengers transported, three years ahead of schedule.

2012
  • The first 30 Chinese trains start running;

  • Reform and installation of air-conditioning in 13 units;

  • Total of 83 trains with air conditioning in the fleet;

  • Launch of six Bicycle Park in Japeri, Engenheiro Pedreira, Santa Cruz, Realengo, Bangu and Lajes stations;

  • Launch of ‘Espaço Gratuitade’ desk on platform 13 of Central do Brasil Terminal;

  • Inauguration of Silva Freire station;

  • Launch of SuperVia pages on Facebook and its Graham, and a proactive posting on Twitter;

  • Start of installation of new signaling system ATP (Automatic Transport Protection) in Deodoro branch;

  • Launch of new over head station in Manguinhos;

  • New Operations Control Center;

  • First anniversary the administration of the Alemão Cable Car and record of more than 4 million passengers in 2012;

  • Partnership with the French company Alstrom , bringing forward the purchase of 20 new trains, originally forecast for the period between 2016 and 2020, yet which started running in February 2014, two years ahead of schedule;

  • Express trains start operating for Japeri and Gramacho on the timetables, as well as the ‘semi-direct’ service to Campo Grande;

  • Free restrooms are opened at Central do Brasil Terminal.

2011
  • SuperVia starts operations on Guapimirim line, offering 4,500 seats every day with a fleet made up of locomotives and three carriages;

  • SuperVia launches immediate action plans known as ‘SuperVia in Movement’, working towards automatic cleaning of trains; improvements in standards of cleanliness; revitalization of Central do Brasil Terminal; remodeling the tracks; focus on women's carriage; introduction of the carousel operation, branch-exclusive platform system; New Operations Control Center; incentives for the use of by and the installation of new security cameras;

  • Start of the branch-exclusive platform system, the operation undertaken with fixed intervals between the trains;

  • SuperVia takes over the transportation of the Alemão Cable Car. 

2010
  • Total of 38 trains with air conditioning in the fleet;

  • Odebrecht TransPort - one of the subsidiaries of the Odebrecht Organization focused on road transportation concessions, urban transport, logistical infrastructure (ports and pipelines) and airports, takes over SuperVia.

2009
  • The State Government delivers four reformed units (making the new total 38 trains with air-conditioning) and signed a contract to supply more new air-conditioned trains, to be delivered at the end of 2011;

  • SuperVia sets up its Twitter account, one more channel between clients and the Company.

2007
  • State government delivers new air-conditioned trains with computerized systems, totaling four trains in the fleet with this system;

  • Start of the train-bus integration in the Baixada Fluminense region;

  • SuperVia receives the "Sustainable Attitude 2008" prize, awarded by CAERJ.

2005
  • Expansion of the train-bus integration:

  • Launch of the new train schedules with an increase in number of seats on offer and a reduction in intervals between trains;

  • Ambient Sounds System at 79 stations;

  • Building works to upgrade27 stations in the Baixada Fluminense region;

  • SuperVia receives three awards;

  • State Government delivers 10 new air-conditioned trains;

  • Total of 22 trains with air conditioning in the fleet;

  • All SuperVia stations are adapted to accept electronic travel cards and São Francisco Xavier, Méier e Madureira stations are modernized with escalators and better access.

2003
  • SuperVia launches its first Internet website and sets up a customer services training and improvement program and receives for prizes (Revista Ferroviária / Colunistas / Os Notáveis);

  • Total of five trains with air conditioning in the fleet;

  • Two stations are modernized.

2001
  • Start of train-bus integration in Zona Oeste (the West Zone);

  • New services on Saturdays and on the Belford Roxo e Saracuruna branch lines;

  • First air-conditioned train enters service;

  • Revitalization of the Vila Inhomirim branch line;

  • Modernization of Operations Control Center;

  • Four stations are modernized.

1999
  • New schedule with more seats on offer;

  • ‘SuperVia Fone’ new Customer Service Center is created;

  • 31 stations are modernized;

  • Start of the train-subway integration;

  • Created the first group of female train drivers;

  • Environmental education program is launched in partnership with the environmental group ‘Associação Ambientalista Defensores da Terra’;

  • Gramacho – Saracuruna stretch of track is electrified.

1998
  • On first of November 1998, SuperVia Concessionária de Transportes Ferroviários S./A. start operating urban trains in important municipalities in the Metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro.
